It’s a common knowledge that the term politics is an unknown word if take into account everything that is happening in a small town in northeastern Bosnia and Herzegovina. The town named Brčko with the nickname District and surname Bosnia and Herzegovina, from father Tvrtko Kotromanić and mother Katarina Kosača, has been showing everything except professional politics for years. In fact, politics in Brčko is more associated with trade, or rather with the local stock exchange, where we do not have New York’s Wall Street but FLEA MARKET, popularly known as the Assembly of the Brčko District of BiH.
Shares are not traded there, I think there is more trading in paving the streets, sharing suspicious grants, opening new official positions and new colorful departments, and the like. Look, the year is 2020. For God’s sake, we live in a democratic society; man has a right to an opinion. So, I think, but I’m not sure, correct me if I’m wrong.
Also, I think it is the only flea market where one can bargain, but only a few days after they pay, that is, buy the product. You’re probably wondering how and why. The answer is very simple. Imagine, you come to my market on my stand and ask how much a product costs, I tell you 10 KM, you buy and you are very satisfied with the product.
After a month you come again and tell me: “Dude, I paid 10.00 BAM for your product a month ago. In two months, the New Year is coming, there will be big discounts. I want you now to lower the price of the product I bought a month ago. Reduce it to 2.00 BAM. ” I, of course, lower the price for the product you bought a month ago and give you back 8.00 BAM, keeping the remaining 2.00 BAM.
I have just tried to illustrate to you the power of the Assembly, which, according to its mood, at any time can change any law that is in its power. For instance, you come from abroad with good capital and start a company, invest all the money and everything goes great. The company works for a month, but then the Assembly amends some article of the law that includes your company and those similar to yours and prevents you from selling a product on the basis of which you survive. You put the key in the lock and cut and run without a penny to your name, or you simply die of poverty or declare bankruptcy.
We are witnessing frequent changes in the laws in the Assembly of the Brčko District of BiH, and we all know that most politicians join the Assembly precisely because of that possibility and power i.e. to change the law. It is a public known fact that some politicians brag around the city that the DECISION OF THE ASSEMBLY is stronger than the DECISION OF THE COURT, which is a bit worrying.
It’s a little illogical, but really true. You are wondering how that can be possible. Well, precisely due to a weapon called CHANGE OF LAW AND ITS ARTICLES or ACTS.
I guess if we now started calculating how many laws each President of the Assembly has changed since the District was established, we would probably get a recorder.
Of course, there have always been changes in the law but, I believe, there have never been so many changes like in the past 4 years. It seems that these are attempts to treat one’s complexes, which is exactly what the current president’s statements sound like, who very often avoids the name ASSEMBLY in his statements, and calls this institution PARLIAMENT, because it probably sounds vicious. So, when we say a member of the Assembly, it would refer to a budget user, but if we say a parliamentarian, well, that’s something else.
For instance, and I don’t know why, but when I hear the word parliamentarian, the first thing that comes to my mind is Bakir Izetbegović, who is already coming up with a new, expanded simple sentence to justify a member of his SDA political party who is under investigation, such as AMIR ZUKIĆ, a former secretary of the SDA party.
I have to admit, I am surprised that the current president of the Assembly, pardon me, the Parliament, has not yet changed the illuminated advertisement on this institution in these 4 years, or has he, and I don’t know. It would say PARLIAMENT instead of ASSEMBLY. Those facts may be irrelevant, but one thing is for sure- the current president seems to have a poor understanding of the position he is holding, which is worrying.
The current president of the assembly, ESED KADRIĆ, had his number of public speeches or confessions. Thus, for instance, in a recent public conflict at the Assembly session in a duel with the Member of Assembly, pardon, Member of Parliament, MARKOVIĆ, he admitted suspicious actions such as expanding the systematization, i.e. helping in the employment of family members of the Member of Assembly MARKOVIĆ, pardon, parliamentarian. Specializations and the like were also mentioned. It was a mutual performance that points to NEPOTISM where MARKOVIĆ pointed to the fact that half of the president’s family works in health care. But considering the fact that the higher authorities do not care about the control of the Assembly, no one reacts or pays attention to what is happening at the “FLEA MARKET” because the ASSEMBLY is the authority since they are the ones who decide what they can and cannot do, right?

So these days we have witnessed various announcements of political parties and the writing of various web sites that the President of the Assembly complains that he misses all the students in the classroom. You see, those who are absent brought a club or medical excuse. However, you pretend not to see that those who are really not there are missing, because they regularly wrote their homework, but when you really need them, then you remember that they are not there, especially if they do not call you to say a reason of their absence while, on the other side, your political campaign is about to start.
Media headlines served by SDA representatives in Brčko were flooded with the name and surname of the Member of Assembly, Admir Nuković. Now, if a song could be sung instead of the press conference, SDA Member of Assembly Admir Mujkanović, since it is already known that Member of Assembly Mujkanović, just like Serbian Foreign Minister IVICA DAČIĆ, likes to sing at some weddings in his private life and in his free time, only in the colors of the SDA, then that conference song, instead of the one for the press, would be like the one by the popular musician RAMBO AMADEUS, which reads “SHEPHERD COME BACK, YOUR SHEEP CANNOT BE WITHOUT YOU”.
In the eyes of innocent observers, this probably looks like the SDA is begging, pleading, whining and screaming because they need ADMIR NUKOVIĆ right now. They’re probably missing a hand to vote or a new candidate for the upcoming elections- who knows.
The president realized after 3 months that someone was missing in the Assembly, pardon, the Parliament, and now it’s a mess.
However, this mostly happens in a situation before the elections when you have competition and you have unreal expectations. At that moment comes the trashing of the competition, which indicates unprofessionalism, frivolity and inability to manage the function you hold. Given that everything remained as it was 4 years ago, we can conclude that nothing has been done or changed, which again indicates the incompetence of the leader, right?
On the other hand, when they mess up here, then help arrives, the main boss comes to say where the boards should be stacked.
The new supervisor for the Brčko District of BiH praises the work of the government and the assembly of the Brčko District in almost every public address. If we didn’t live or visit the Brčko District, we would really think it is a great town and an even better system.
In fact, it is a town that has more problems than any other town in BiH. The previous supervisor for Brčko, the famous Raffi Gregorian, was the most popular among the citizens, and even today he makes every politician in Brčko of that time trembling with fear.
He researched and dealt with the problem because he was a professional and knew how to recognize the problem. Raffi never gave up on the problem. When they tried to deceive him with rigged laws where he could not make them bear responsibility, even in that case, like a true professional, he knew what to do.
Raffi punished them with various prohibitions, such as a ban on engaging in politics, movements through the institutions of BD BIH, etc., all with the aim of protecting the city and citizens of the Brčko District from suspicious politics and corruption.
The new supervisor Michael Scanlan seems more like someone who just nods his head at Brčko politicians and whose almost every statement for the media reads: “Bravo, you did great, you are doing great!” while at the same time the town loses the opposition. When the opposition is equal to the position, i.e. the government, then you know something must be wrong.
You say that the government is doing great, and you drove from Sarajevo in a car and passed by a town’s mockery called the “Jedinstvo” stadium, a government project that has been implemented for 20 years. Or maybe the supervisor was driving on the new Brčko bypass and could not see the JEDINSTVO stadium, SEVENTH APRIL.
Shouldn’t that at least be a criticism of the authorities if nothing else? Does that deserve praise? The buildings from the time of the Austro-Hungarian rule are almost falling apart, the old craft center in the very heart of the town is also falling apart, and you stay silent and praise the work of the government. The largest number of youth departures has been recorded in the last 8 years because there are no jobs and the quality of life is poor, but you praise the government for doing well.
A lot could be added to Mr. Michael, who pretends not to see the real problems that are in front of him all the time, and in front of us, yes, us citizens of the Brčko District. This is exactly the reason why the stories are circulating that the Brčko District has never had such an unprofessional president of the Assembly and such an unpopular supervisor for the Brčko District of BiH.
In addition to all that, you have pure discrimination in front of your eyes, and that is discrimination against national minorities, which means that if I was born a Chinese in BiH and have BH citizenship, I guess I have some rights. Isn’t it sad and discriminatory for my neighbor Šemso, who is a Bosniak by birth, to become a Chinese overnight and represent my nation in the Assembly. A CHINESE who has nothing to do with China- isn’t that an abuse of us Chinese? Is that a commendable act?
And how is it that of all these changes in the law in the Assembly, the one that would make it impossible for Bosniaks, Serbs and Croats to become Chinese overnight has not changed???
In the end, to conclude the title of this story, in my opinion, observing this situation through the eyes of innocent bystander, I concluded that this is the MOST FUNNY PRESIDENT OF THE ASSEMBLY AND THE MOST DISLIKED SUPERVISOR IN THE HISTORY OF THE BRČKO DISTRICT BIH. However, that is just my irrelevant opinion, which does not have to be true. But it still gives me the right to think and say what I think when it comes to public figures and politicians.
REMEMBER, I think that’s the truth, if you let me think at all. Although, I know I’m suitable and better when I don’t think and keep quiet. But, who else cares what the town will say, right?
